CTNC Spearheads Visionary Carbon-Positive Initiative in Lai Chau Province

In a move towards sustainable environmental solutions, the Center for Technology and Nature Conservation (CTNC) participated at the recent capacity building “Enabling Nature-Based Carbon Projects in Vietnam” workshop. Held at the Australian Embassy in Hanoi and organized by Natureco and CCD, this transformative event brought together public and private organizations committed to carbon projects with comprehensive benefits.

CTNC seized the opportunity to present an ambitious project set in motion in Lai Chau province. Focused on Agro-forestry, reforestation, and collaborative forest protection, the initiative is a testament to CTNC’s commitment to holistic carbon sequestration. Notably, the project is tailored to include diverse minority ethnic groups such as H’Mong, Dao, Tày, and Thái, making it culturally inclusive.

The project’s uniqueness lies in its integration of carbon credits to uplift local communities and fortify reforestation endeavors. Beyond these benefits, the initiative aims to connect fragmented forests, creating a sprawling, interconnected habitat for wildlife. This visionary approach aligns with CTNC’s broader mission of addressing environmental challenges while ensuring the well-being of both communities and ecosystems.

This forward-thinking project exemplifies CTNC’s leadership in pioneering nature-based solutions that prioritize inclusive community engagement, contributing not only to carbon market dynamics but also fostering the broader well-being of local communities and ecosystems.

The project underscores CTNC’s commitment to pioneering nature-based solutions, playing a vital role in the fight against climate change and the conservation of biodiversity in the region.
