In commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Cuc Phuong National Park (07/07/1962-07/07/2022), on July 2, the park collaborated with the Hanoi Wildlife Rescue Center (under the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development) to reintroduce a significant number of wild animals into the pristine forests of Cuc Phuong. Specifically, a total of 58 individuals from 8 species, including Civets, King Cobras, Indian Star Tortoises, Asian Koels, Common Cuckoos, Japanese White-eyes, Red-breasted Parakeets, and Japanese Scops Owls, were released. Additionally, there were several individuals of the Tiger Keelback Snake, weighing a total of 1.5kg.
All of these animals were either victims of trafficking, exhibits, or voluntarily surrendered by organizations or individuals to the state authorities. After being rescued, rehabilitated, and provided with proper care, they were deemed fit to be returned to their natural habitat. Cuc Phuong’s pristine forest was evaluated as having all the necessary conditions for the successful reintroduction of these animals. Mr. Chu Phu My, Director of the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, expressed his appreciation for the positive and effective cooperation between the department and the park in natural conservation activities. He also praised Cuc Phuong National Park’s traditions and achievements, especially in the conservation of wildlife and environmental education through eco-tourism products like the “Back to Nature Tour.”
The representative of the Rescue, Conservation, and Development Center for species (Cuc Phuong National Park) mentioned that this marks the second collaboration in the past two years, where the two units have worked together to reintroduce a large number of wild animals to Cuc Phuong. This highlights the stability and sustainable development of Cuc Phuong’s ecosystem, a significant outcome of the park’s pioneering forest management and protection efforts in Vietnam.
