CTNC collaborates with Tay Hoa Protection Forest Management Board to promote wildlife conservation in schools

The Center for Technology and Nature Conservation (CTNC), in collaboration with the Tay Hoa Protection Forest Management Board, successfully organized a wildlife conservation awareness campaign at three secondary schools — Dong Khoi (Hoa Thinh Commune), Tay Son (Hoa My Commune), and Dinh Tien Hoang (Son Thanh Commune) in Dak Lak Province. The campaign aimed to inspire young students to appreciate biodiversity and actively participate in wildlife protection efforts.

The event featured a series of interactive presentations on key wildlife groups, with a special focus on Vietnam’s native turtle and primate species. During the turtle session, students learned about different turtle species found in their local area, their ecological roles, and the threats they face. The presentation was accompanied by colorful posters to help students identify turtle species accurately. In the primate session, CTNC educators introduced students to Vietnam’s rich primate diversity, highlighting endemic and endangered species such as the Southern Yellow-cheeked Gibbon and the Black-shanked Douc Langur.

To make learning more engaging, the team incorporated interactive mini-games and quizzes throughout the sessions. These activities encouraged student participation and helped reinforce key messages about conservation, making the experience both fun and educational. The campaign also showcased a variety of communication materials and publications developed by CTNC, including posters, stickers, and brochures on endangered wildlife protection.

This event was implemented in close coordination with the Tay Hoa Protection Forest Management Board, which strengthened both the effectiveness of the campaign and the partnership between schools and forest management authorities. The collaboration created a foundation for future joint education and conservation initiatives within the Tay Hoa landscape.

Alongside the awareness sessions, CTNC organized a drawing competition titled “Wildlife Conservation – Protecting Nature for the Future.” The activity attracted enthusiastic participation from hundreds of students, who expressed their creativity, curiosity, and love for nature through colorful and meaningful artwork.

The contest invited students to express their ideas under the theme “Wildlife Conservation – Protecting Nature for the Future.” Participants were encouraged to portray the rich biodiversity of their surroundings, featuring local species such as the Southern Vietnamese Box Turtle (Cuora picturata), Southern Yellow-cheeked Gibbon (Nomascus gabriellae), and Black-shanked Douc Langur (Pygathrix nigripes), alongside other native birds and mammals. Students also illustrated positive human actions — protecting forests, reducing hunting, and restoring habitats — reflecting their vision of a harmonious coexistence between people and wildlife.

At the conclusion of the program, over 1,000 students, more than 50 teachers, and hundreds of local residents participated. CTNC donated 150 nature-themed books, 100 wildlife conservation posters, over 100 stickers, and 150 brochures to the participating schools. These materials aim to foster a culture of reading and inspire continued environmental learning among students.

The campaign received warm support from teachers and students alike, generating excitement and positive energy throughout the schools. More importantly, it marked another important milestone in CTNC’s mission to expand environmental education networks and promote conservation awareness in key biodiversity areas across Central Vietnam. 🌿
